Project Description

Northern Contracting Group undertook major civil and stormwater works for the construction of 3 x 1400m2 Futsal Fields at Mona Vale on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The project involved the pushing out and compacting in 100mm layers of 2500m3 of stockpiled clay to achieve the design Rl’s for the three tiered playing sub surface. In conjunction 1500m3 of bulk excavation was required to the eastern property boundary to accommodate the playing surface area and 150m3 of detailed excavation for retaining wall footings and the like.

Over 1300m of 100mm dia slotted Upvc sub soil drainage was installed to drain the subsoil profile to a main 300mm dia Upvc stormwater line connected to the council stormwater assets in Vineyard St Mona Vale.

Additionally 2 x 28,000L stormwater tanks were installed as collection points for the existing RSL stormwater lines and new sub soil field drainage. In conjunction with this Northern Contracting Group installed a new sewer line from existing amenities buildings within the Bowling Green grounds, connecting into the council sewer 120m away in Vineyard St.

Northern Contracting Group was responsible for the construction of the sub synthetic turf profile aswell, providing 1250t of Boral “Tigerturf” 20mm aggregate (150mm thick) and 300t of Boral “Tigerturf” fines (30mm thick). 4500m2 of bidum A14 and 0.2mm Fortecon was installed as separation layers to the aggregates and clay / drainage layer.

These proprietary products were specified by Tiger turf, who installed the synthetic playing surfaces.

Northern Contracting Group also provided 1000t of granular backfill material for all retaining structures built on site. Northern Group provided all plant and equipment, set and supervision for the project duration.
