Project Description

Principle contractor FDC was undertaking the major development of a business park in the Pittwater Council area known as the Peninsula Business Estate. Stemming from this development the council imposed conditions on the developer to upgrade, adjust and improve the road currently servicing the subject site in Daydream St Warriewood.

In line with our company objective we tendered to complete the entire civil works package for handover at completion; however in brief works consisted of demolition of half the existing road surface and the entire dilapidated council verge, removing in excess of 60 loads of excavated material offsite. The remaining half width of the roadway was profiled to a depth of 50mm such that road surfacing could be undertaken at a later stage. All bitumen was recycled at greenwood recycling facility at St Ives.

Once bulk excavation was complete, trimming, grading and compaction was required to achieve a new road profile, accommodating falls to a single new kerb inlet pit, collecting road surface water into the existing council system.

With a prepared foundation Northern Group installed new kerb and guttering, and standard footpath to the full extent of the road shoulder, in conjunction with two new layers of base to the road surface, which subsequently received 50mm of AC10 bitumen to over 500m2 of road surface.

All base layers were RTA 3051 standard materials, and recycled where possible; installed to Pittwater council and Northrop compaction requirements.

In addition to the standard complexities of delivering good quality civil works projects, this project was delivered while maintaining uninterrupted access to neighbouring properties and ongoing access into the new business estate under construction. This was ensured by Northern Group’s expert supervisory staff and project managers.

Overall the project was delivered on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of our client.
