Northern Contracting Group was engaged to undertake an earthworks and drainage contract in the Blaxland Precinct of Sydney Olympic Park in Silverwater NSW.
The existing low laying area consisted of 10,000m2 of weed infested grass and various stockpiles of sandstone and topsoil excavated from other projects for SOPA. Prior to Northern Contracting Group commencing contract works a survey of the stockpiles was undertaken by a registered surveyor to determine if the volume on site would be enough cut and fill to the design RL’s. The stockpile volume was approximately 3500m3 with the material required for cut / fill was 2500m3
From this Northern Contracting Group determined that there was approximately 1000m3 of surplus material. The client expressed that there was to be no cartage and disposal of surplus material from site therefore the design RL’s were altered to facilitate this site requirement.
