Bay Terraces, Little Bay
- Client: Baseline Constructions
- Principal: Northern Group
- Contract Superintendant: Trent Mison
- Date: Stage 1 January 2012 – February 2012, Stage 2 May 2012 – June 2012
The project required Northern Group to undertake civil works consisting of trim, grade and compaction of existing subgrade under Level 1 Geotechnical supervision, subbase and base preparation, asphalt surfacing with 40mm thick AC10, concrete kerbs and gutters, concrete footpaths, pram ramps, driveways and vehicle crossings, subsoil drainage works with 100mm socked agline and the submission of ‘as built drawings for a 1200m2 loop road with street parking to service townhouses under construction.
Northern Group was handed the site by the client after the bulk excavation of the proposed access road footprint was completed by others (see figure 1-2). We were required to fill over the existing subgrade 150mm thick using sandstone stockpiled onsite during excavation for the basement carpark. The sandstone was treated onsite with the use of a 12t excavator with a shaker bucket to ensure the material was the required -50mm as specified by the engineer and transported to the works area with a 10t articulated dump truck. Compaction after spreading was completed with a 13t smoothdrum roller under level 1 geotechnical supervision to ensure correct compaction techniques were undertaken and suitable founding for road pavement was achieved.
